Historic Lakeshore Communities Real Estate
The Town of Georgina came together as a Township back in 1970 and incorporated into a Town by 1986. The merger of the Village of Sutton got Georgina on the map officially (North Gwillimbury used to be part of Georgina, but broke off and separated to become its own Township). Communities within Georgina are Sutton, Belhaven, Keswick, Jackson’s Point, Willow Beach, Pefferlaw, Udora, Port Bolster, Brownhill, Virginia, Baldwin, Brighton Beach and part of Ravenshoe. Sitting within the most northern area of the Region of York, Georgina is neighbours and shares borders with the Township of Brock in the east, the Town of Bradford/West Gwillimbury & Cook Bay in the west, the south east shores of Lake Simcoe in the north and the Township of Uxbridge/East Gwillimbury in the southern area.
Georgina living is enticing for both residents and visitors because of its gorgeous location to the shoreline of the lake and its nature-filled landscapes. Life in Georgina is a country-community feel, but with all of the fixings of an urbanized area. Georgina has a perfect balance of live, work and play options, which makes this specific area highly sought after in the real estate market. Spacious homes and property lots are styled smartly & savvy within the country-living scope. Bungalows, detached homes and larger family houses is just the ticket for any home buyer that is looking at real estate for sale in Georgina. The advantage of investing in Georgina is its allure of peaceful, affordable living, but still having super-easy access to larger cities like Toronto. Property investments in Georgina are a clever move for those business owners that want to be on par with areas that are still growing and trending in multiple markets.
Unique in its own right, Georgina has all that residents need in the way of amenities and a whole lot more! The Southlake Regional Health Centre and Markham Stouffville Hospital takes care of all health needs. Catholic and public schools are abundant within Georgina (12 public schools, 2 high schools & 3 Catholic schools) and there is the Georgina Business School for alternate programs for adults. There are multiple ways to get into and out of Georgina, as it is directly accessible by the Trent Severn waterway and the Georgian Bay waterway via many boat docks, various boating vessels can be utilized. Driving to and from Georgina can be accomplished by taking Highway 404 or Highway 48 (Highway 404 from Georgina to downtown Toronto takes approximately 1 hour). Public transportation is another way to get around, and with access to both GO Transit service and the York Region Transit, area hopping has been made very easy for residents.
Exploring nature is a major pastime in Georgina for residents of all ages, with or without pets. Nature trails and wildlife trails (The ROC Wildlife Nature Trails) that provide numerous terrains, parks with & without amenities and the shoreline beaches all offer all-season fun with a very ‘vacation-like’ twist. Some trails that run through and around Georgina are: Sibbald Point Provincial Park Trails, Simcoe Landing Trail, Sutton-Zephyr Rail Trail, Highcastle Park Trails, Keswick Centre Trail and Whipper Watson Park Trails, just to name a few. Beach areas are off of Young’s Harbour, De La Salle Park, Willow Wharf, Holmes Point Park, Willow Beach Conservation Area, Jackson’s Point & Bonnie Park and North Gwillimbury Park. Many of the waterfront parks are excellent spots to do a little fishing (all year around) and take in the sunsets. The ROC is the hot spot of Georgina, for its fantastically fun ziplining, rock climbing wall with both high/low ropes. The Roc also provides access to unique walking/hiking/cycling & jogging trails that run along the north shore and alternative labyrinth single-walking trail. This adventure & exploration area also has splash pads, volleyball/tennis & basketball courts, soccer field and softball diamond. Cold, winter weather turns The ROC into a new adventure through its skiing, snowboarding, tubing, tobogganing and skating (the onsite chalet offers delicious foods and drinks).
Residents that think there could not possibly be any more fun things to do…well, golfers can smile too! There is a slew of public and two private golf courses in Georgina (private courses: Briars Golf Club & Eastbourne Golf Club) and public courses are: Willow Golf Green Centre, Lakeview House Golf Club, Pines of Georgina, Lyndhurst Golf Course and Orchard Beach Golf & Country Club. Golfing is a healthy outlet for outdoor relaxation and some challenging fun!
There are many attractions and points of interest within Georgina, like the Stephen Leacock Theatre, Captain William Johnson’s Old Mill, the Sutton Fair & Horse Show, St. George Anglican Church (1877), Duclos Point Nature Reserve, the Peter Gzowski Festival of Stories, the Georgina Pioneer Village Museum, Georgina Arts Centre & Gallery, Roche’s Point Anglican Church (1862) and Sibbald Point Provincial Park. Shopping and eating/drinking is an exciting and mouth-watering adventure in its own right (hearty homemade stews, locally-caught fish & chips or a homemade turkey dinner with all the bells and whistles (including bakery-made desserts) is all waiting for locals to savour.
